You should pay your fees when you first apply to register and when you complete your annual declaration. When you give details of your business, the online service will work out how much you owe and let you pay the total amount due for each type of fee. Make a note of the payment reference (it has 12 digits and 2 letters starting with X) when you submit your application or annual declaration. There will be a delay in your payment if you use the wrong reference number. If you do not have your payment reference number you can email: MLRCIT@hmrc.gov.uk to ask for it before making a payment. You can find more information on other ways to pay in the pay Money Laundering Regulations fees guidance.
When you first register you must pay a one-off registration fee of £300 which is non-refundable. Businesses whose registration is withdrawn (because they cease then subsequently resume providing relevant activity) or have their registration cancelled (including those who do not pay their annual fees) will also have to pay this fee if they reapply for supervision. This fee will be waived for businesses eligible for the small business reduction.
