How to use the service
Check that your education provider or institution meets the sponsor requirements in the sponsor guidance and is ready to comply with them. Decide who will fill the sponsor management roles within your institution. Estimate the number of confirmations of acceptance for studies ( CAS ) you are eligible to apply for in the first year of your licence. Apply online and pay the fee. Send UK Visas and Immigration ( UKVI ) the documents listed in sponsor guidance appendix A . If your application is approved, you’ll be given probationary sponsor status and emailed a login for the sponsorship management system . This is an online tool which lets you carry out your day-to-day sponsorship activities. When you successfully apply for a Student sponsor licence, UKVI will give you a probationary sponsor licence. This is a transitional period lasting 12 months whilst you demonstrate you can fulfil all of your duties as a Student sponsor. You must apply for a basic compliance assessment after 12 months. This is to assess whether you meet the core requirements to remain a Student sponsor.
Requirements
A CAS is a virtual document, similar to a database record. When you want to sponsor an overseas student, you should complete a process that produces a unique CAS reference number, which you give to the student. A CAS is your way of confirming, as a licensed sponsor, that: you want to sponsor an overseas student to study in the UK at your institution to the best of your knowledge, that student meets the requirements of the rules for a valid CAS and will be able to make a successful application for permission to enter or stay in the UK you accept responsibility for reporting on the student throughout the period of your sponsorship When you apply for a sponsor licence, you must apply for the number of confirmations of acceptance for studies ( CAS ) you would like to assign in your first year. The number must include: new students who you want to sponsor existing students who you expect to apply for an extension, if you applying for an extension to your existing Student sponsor licence or
