How to use the service

If you have less than 6 months’ permission to stay in the UK (known as ‘leave to remain’), you need to extend it before you apply for a travel document. To apply for a travel document, you must have both: an eVisa a UKVI account An eVisa is a digital record of your identity and immigration status. It has replaced the biometric residence permit ( BRP ). You need a UK Visas and Immigration ( UKVI ) account to access your eVisa. You can create a UKVI account to access your eVisa if you do not already have one. You must check your personal details are up to date in your UKVI account before you apply. Your details will be used to prove your identity. Your application will be refused if you do not have an eVisa or UKVI account. Or if your details are not up to date in your UKVI account.
